Our Process
From first conversation to commissioning
Every La Sartoriale project follows a clearly defined process, adapted to the place, the collection and the nature of the project. When other professionals are involved, we work with them on the elements required to integrate our work into the overall project. Each stage begins once the information, approvals and conditions required for it are in place.
Analysis & discovery
Understanding the project
We begin by understanding the place, the collection, how it will be used and the client’s expectations.
The initial information available, plans, photographs, dimensions, architectural context and project intentions, allows us to assess its scale, the level of intervention required and the first constraints.
This initial assessment allows us to determine how the project can be approached before beginning the design process.
Target budget
Establishing an initial framework
Based on the dimensions and the initial information available, we prepare a first estimate for the project.
The main options that may affect this estimate are identified separately, together with their impact on the budget, allowing the client to decide how far they wish to develop the project.
This first estimate provides a realistic financial framework before the design studies begin.
Preliminary Design - APS
Defining the main principles
Based on our initial discussions and the approved estimate, the preliminary design establishes the foundations of the project: layout, principal dimensions, capacity, and the first aesthetic and technical directions.
An initial elevation provides a clear view of these principles and forms the basis for the discussions required to validate them.
The APS therefore establishes the framework upon which the project commitment can be made.
Volumetric Design
Giving form to the project
Once the main principles have been established, the project is developed in three dimensions to assess its proportions, balance and integration within the space.
The Clay Render, deliberately neutral, allows the architecture of the project to be considered first, before materials, colours and finishes influence its perception.
It allows the volumes and overall lines of the project to be approved before every element is defined in detail.
Detailed Design - APD
Defining the project
The detailed design defines the project as a whole: dimensions, capacity, bottle presentation, materials, finishes, lighting and technical principles.
Based on the approved choices and the reference dimensions available at this stage, the price of the project is established.
The APD then becomes the reference basis for the subsequent technical studies.
Technical studies & interfaces
Preparing the integration
Once the APD has been approved, we finalise the technical studies relating to our work and define the requirements for its integration into the space.
We provide the relevant professionals with the information required for their work: architects, project managers, technical contractors or other specialists, depending on the nature of the project.
This stage allows the interfaces between our work and its surroundings to be anticipated before the final site measurements are taken.
Final site measurements
Verifying before manufacturing
Final measurements are taken on site once any works that could affect them are sufficiently advanced.
They allow us to verify the reference dimensions used up to that point and, where necessary, adjust the project to the actual site dimensions.
The production drawings are then prepared and submitted for approval before manufacturing begins.
Manufacturing & Quality control
Made in Italy
Once the production drawings have been approved, manufacturing begins in Italy.
The different elements come together at the workshop, where the wine cellar is pre-assembled and checked before shipment.
This stage allows the complete project to be inspected before it leaves. Photographs and videos allow the client and their architect to follow the process and approve the result; where the project allows, this approval may also take place directly at the workshop.
Once these checks have been completed, the wine cellar is dismantled and prepared for shipment.
The different stages of packing are also documented with photographs and videos before the project leaves the workshop.
Shipping & Installation
Defined for each project
Transport, handling and installation arrangements are defined for each project and specified within the agreed scope.
Depending on the arrangements agreed, installation may be carried out under the supervision of our technician, who coordinates the workforce on site and oversees the correct assembly of the project.
Their role is one of technical supervision and installation control; handling and assembly operations are carried out by the workforce appointed for the project.
Commissioning
Bringing the wine cellar into operation
Once installation is complete and the necessary conditions are in place, the equipment is commissioned and its operation checked by the relevant professionals.
The settings specified for the project are verified, and the control and monitoring systems are activated where they form part of the installation.
The client is then provided with the information required for the use and operation of the wine cellar.
